Eric Meyers feared dead by Port Alfred residents

Port Alfred Detectives were on the heels of Eric Meyers since last year in Octoberfor the alleged murder of his ex-girlfriend and the attempted murder of his nine-year-old son.

It is alleged that he stabbed his ex-girlfriend several times to the upper body that same month.

"She died at the scene," police said then.

"The suspect also threatened to kill his young nine-year-old son and himself."

His son now lives with a relative, who was also injured during the traumatic ordeal.

Several attempts by the SAPS to locate the suspect had been unsuccessful.

Rumours in the community suggested that he had committed suicide, however police had not registered such a report and continued looking for him.

His identity was not in dispute as he was identified by several eyewitnesses, who knew him including close relatives.
