Port Elizabeth gang affiliates slapped with life sentences plus 49 years

Port Elizabeth gang affiliates, Jody Williams alias 'Viskop', aged 23 years old, and Jason Jacobs alias 'Jampak', aged 27 years old, will not see beyond prison walls for a very long time after they were sentenced to life behind bars plus 49 years for murder, attempted murder, illegal possession of firearm, and the illegal possession of ammunition by the Port Elizabeth High Court on Friday.

Williams was arrested in August 2015 by the Provincial Gang Investigation Unit while Jacobs was arrested near his home in Sanctor, Bethelsdorp, Port Elizabeth, on 15th of January 2016, by Bethelsdorp police.

“On the 17th of  July 2015, at about 20:15, a group of people were standing at a fire in the driveway of a house in Catherine Street, Salsoneville, Port Elizabeth, when they were shot at,” said police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu.

She added that Denise Rollison, aged 28 years old, was shot in her head and died while two other people were also struck in the face and leg respectively.

Williams and Jacobs were sentenced as follows: on a charge of murder – life imprisonment; attempted murder (x 6) – 36 years; illegal possession of a firearm - 8 years, and illegal possession of ammunition – 5 years.

“None of the sentences will run concurrently and effectively they will serve life plus 49 years in imprisonment,” said Colonel Naidu.

She added that application an application for appeal was denied.

Both accused are affiliated to the Dustlifes.
