Elderly Port Elizabeth man was assaulted in apparent road rage incident 

Port Elizabeth - A 26-year-old Port Elizabeth man is expected in court after he was arrested by the PE Flying squad for allegedly assaulting an elderly man, who had confronted him about reckless driving.

"The was arrested on Sunday, at approximately 09:30, at his residence in Colleen Glen after a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm was reported on Friday," described police spokesperson, Capt Sandra Janse Van Rensburg.

She said that it is alleged that on Friday in the afternoon, a 67-year-old man confronted a man on a quad-bike for driving recklessly in the Sedan Street, Lorraine, Port Elizabeth.

"The man was severely assaulted and at about 18:45, he went to Walmer police to report the incident.

"However due to his nature of injuries, he needed immediate medical attention," Capt Janse Van Rensburg said.

"The police have opened a case on behalf of the complainant.

" The suspect will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate court on Monday."
