Port Elizabeth Uber driver escapes unharmed after passengers open fire on him

Port ElizabethA 28-year-old Uber driver managed to escape unharmed after his Grey Ford Figo was hijacked in Zwide, Port Elizabeth, over the weekend.

"This followed after the driver was making a passenger pick up in Sir Grey Street in Zwide at 17:00, on Sunday," described police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge.

"The two male suspects got into the vehicle and immediately started shooting at the driver.

"The driver managed to escape from the vehicle and into a nearby house without being wounded even while the suspects continued shooting at him while he ran away."

Capt Beetge said that the suspects then fled the scene with the vehicle.

"The vehicle was later found abandoned in Van Der Kemp Street, Zwide at 18:30."
