The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Nelson Mandela Bay over the weekend hosted a prayer day event under the theme 'Pray for our uniformed members', which was held a Victory Ministries Church.

According to police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge, this is an annual event where the SAPS, the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), nurses, the Department of Correctional Services, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Fire Department, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Metro Police and other safety and serurity roleplayers can be appreciated.

“All the relevant stakeholders were invited to attend the service and were praised for the selfless service they render to our communities of Nelson Mandela Metro,” Captain Beetge described.

“A march to the church preceded the service during which all the relevant uniformed departments took part. During the service, a strong prayer was done to keep our members safe during their duties."

Captain Beetge added; “In line with the coming festive season rush to our city, extra special duties are required from our uniformed members, and a call for appreciation thereof and further prayers have been voiced at the church service.”
