Prosecutors deciding on case of woman who killed brother she alleges raped her for years

A 21-year-old woman accused of killing her 40-year-old brother, whom she alleges raped her for many years, made a brief appearance before the Dutywa Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

"The case was not enrolled," said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"The public prosecutor referred  the case to the Senior Public Prosecutor to decide whether to prosecute or not."

The woman was arrested by Dutywa police on Tuesday.

"It is alleged that the suspect fatally stabbed her brother on Monday, at about 20:30, at Ndakeni Location, Ngxakaxha Village, in Dutywa," said Captain Manatha.

"The 40-year-old man was stabbed on his upper body and he died on the spot."

Captain Manatha said that it is further alleged that the suspect accused the deceased of raping her since the age of seven.

"The rape was never reported to the Dutywa police," he said.

"The deceased cannot be identified as that will reveal the identity of the suspect who claims to be the rape victim."
