Queenstown police make huge dagga bust following tip-off

Queenstown - Police officers from the Queenstown Cluster Combating Task Team were on their daily routine duties on Sunday, when they received information about a taxi loading dagga from Dodrech town to Cape Town using the Molteno route.  

"The members  followed up the information  and spotted the vehicle," said police spokesperson, Captain Namhla Mdleleni.

"A searched was conducted and six bags containing dagga was found. 

"Two suspects were arrested."

Capt Mdleleni said that while they were still on their tour of duty members again spotted a suspicious Quantum driving towards R61  towards Tarkastad road. 

"Members quickly chased the vehicle and searched it," she said. 

"Fifty-three bags of dagga worth an estimated R1,5 million were confiscated and three suspects arrested.

"All suspects will appear before Queenstown and Molteno  Magistrate's Courts soon facing charge of dealing in dagga."

Acting Cluster Commander, Brigadier Pumla Mavuka, commended  members for the good work done.
