Thorough and responsive investigation of crime through the 72-hour Activation Plan has yielded results in the Ngcobo murder.

"It is alleged that on Friday, between 09:00 and 11:00, the body of an elderly woman was discovered by the neigbour and family member at Bojane A/A Madladleni location in Ngcobo," said police spokesperson, Col Sibongile Soci.

"It is also alleged that the deceased, Nolusapho Ntsenge, was alone at her homestead after her grand-children had gone to school in the morning.

"On returning from school, the 9-year-old girl found the rondavel locked and knocked with no response from the grandmother."

A neighbour was called, who on arrival kicked the door open and found the deceased with a stab wound on the upper body.

"A knife suspected to be the murder weapon was found at the scene," he added.

"The 72-hour Activation Plan was immediately activated and the team managed to arrest one of the family members on Saturday at the same village.

"A case of murder has been registered and the possibility of further charges to be added cannot be ruled out."
