Relief at East London's Sohco flats after dangerous criminal jailed

Sohco flats residents are relieved after the East London Regional Court jailed a 26-year-old robber, Jody Jaggers, to an effective 19 years behind bars for robbery and housebreaking.

"They had been living in fear for more than three years with crimes that included house robberies and burglaries," said police spokesperson, Captain Mluleki Mbi.

"His reign of terror spans from 2015 before the Cambridge Detectives closed the net on with the assistance of a reliable informer network.

"He was further linked with to his crimes through positive fingerprints and his victims pointed him out in the Identification Parade."

Residents happy Jody Jaggers sent to prison

Reacting after hearing the news of Jaggers sentencing, the resident's chairperson, Mzoxolo Nombewu, who was one of Jaggers' victims, said, "I am very happy about the sentencing of Jaggers and I am delighted that the SAPS team followed up on the case and I never doubted the team to begin with."

He also added that , "Jaggers is a minus one problem of all the other problems they have been facing as the residents."

Capt Mbi said that Jaggers' rape case is still pending before the East London Regional Court.

The Cambridge station commander Brigadier Pumla Mdlankomo commended the work of the Investigating Officer, Siyanda Tyokolo for the job well done.
