Risk of load shedding remains high for Tuesday: Eskom

There is a high risk of rotational loadshedding on Tuesday, but it will only be implemented if absolutely necessary

No loadshedding was implemented on Monday, but the high risk for loadshedding remains for Tuesday, Eskomwarned.

"This is as a result of a shortage of capacity due to the loss of generating units at our power stations," the power utility described.

"We continue to encourage residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly during this period. Please switch off geysers as well as all non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand."

Eskom will continue to update customers on load shedding

Eskom said that it will provide regular updates about the state of the power system through various media platforms.

"Customers are advised to keep checking their load shedding schedules on the Eskom or municipal website, and plan on the assumption that load shedding will take place," it added.

"For Eskom customers, these schedules are available on the Eskom website (http://loadshedding.eskom.co.za). Eskom customers can also contact our Customer Contact Centre at 0860 037 566.

"Thank you to all customers for your co-operation and understanding."
