San Miguel and Kaizer Chiefs partner to deliver Addo soccer project

The San Miguel and Kaizer Chiefs Soccer Community Project will end up in a tournament that will take place on Friday, 8 March, with a a soccer programme on Saturday and Sunday, for a selected group of players under the ages of 16 and 19.

San Miguel South Africa, the largest fresh citrus producer and exporter in the Southern Hemisphere, has invited the Kaizer Chiefs to come to Addo and run a soccer project for its employees this week. 

The company has been running a soccer community project for their employees, ahead of the annual picking season, in the last few years.

Eight teams will participate, seven of which are from companies that work with San Miguel in the Addo Valley. And for the eight talented soccer coaches in the area, Amakhosi will conduct a workshop dedicated to them and their needs.

The San Miguel and Kaizer Chiefs Soccer Community Project will end up in a tournament that will take place on Friday, 8 March, with a a soccer programme on Saturday and Sunday, for a selected group of players under the ages of 16 and 19.

“We’ve joined forces with San Miguel for this year’s edition. It’s an excellent way of giving back and reaching out to our supporters in Addo Valley,” said Chiefs’ Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung about the soccer community project.

“They get to be trained and coached by us and, on top of that, meet one of our legends, Arthur Zwane.”

The four-day soccer clinics, which started on Monday morning, 4 March 2019 and are conducted by the Kaizer Chiefs Youth Development Academy team of coaches made up of, Sundra Govinder, Arthur Zwane and Jamie Schultz.
