Search continues after 10-year-old East London girl vanishes

East London police have appealed for assistance from the public after a 10-year-old girl was reported missing at Kidds Beach Police Station on Wednesday.

"She was last seen Tuesday," said police spokesperson, Captain Hazel Mqala.

"It is alleged that she was sent back early from school to her home, because her teacher was going to fetch books at Rubusana.

"She didn't go home because her mother was at work and there was nobody at home instead she went to her friend in the neighborhood to change the uniform and play."

Capt Mqala said that her friends stated that whilst they were playing, she said to them she is going to fetch her baby sister from her grandmother' s place, which is a little bit far away from where she was playing.

"That is when they last saw her," she added.

"The grandmother reported that she never arrived at her place."

Capt Mqala said that all role-players attended the scene and searched for the child, but all in vain.

"The search is continuing."
