Last week, Selborne College partook in three inter-school cricket derbies against Free State giants, Grey College – with raining succumbing two of the encounters to draws.

The 1st XI showpiece ended in a draw, when Selborne were cut short on 64/4 entrained to Grey’s total of 213 all out. Wetting up on the crease, M. Dewar walked off with 38 not out, with bowlers D. Lones (2/25), C. Schluer (1/27) and A. van Wyk (1/31) contributing well with the ball.

Due to another more prolonged innings spell, the U15A encounter also rained out with Grey College again batting first and setting 216 all out, with M. Fourie (3/45), A. Richards (3/49) and B. Danhauser (2/45) piling on the pick of wickets. In the middle, Selborne scored 43/3 before the skies opened.

Selborne batted first in the U14A match-up, with the East London side falling for a grim 90 all out. Grey College then reached the target for 91/5 – winning by five wickets.

On Friday last week, the Selborne 1st XI cruised to an eight-wicket victory over Dale College in the Coca Cola T20 Border Regional Final. Taking to the crease first, Dale were bowled out for 94, with Selborne’s J. Raubenheimer and T. Alexander achieving bowling figures of 3/16 and 3/9 respectively.

Projecting 97/2, Selborne’s pick of batsmen were M. Ferrant (37) and M. Dewar (30 not out).
