Severe thunderstorms, damaging winds, snow, veld fire conditions expected over the Eastern Cape

The South African Weather Service on Monday morning said that severe thunderstorms, damaging winds, snow, veld fire and severe frost conditions are to be expected over parts of the Eastern Cape. 

"Severe Thunderstorms are expected in places over the southern parts of the Eastern Cape," the weather office said.

Meanwhile damaging winds - in the form of strong NW'ly winds, are expected in the Chris Hani and Joe Gqabi districts.

The weather office said light snowfalls can be expected over the Sneeuberg, Coetzeesberge and Winterberg peaks from Monday evening.

Still veld fire conditions are expected over the Dr Beyers Naude and Inxuba Yethemba Local Municipalities (Graaff-Reinet area and Cradock area).

"Severe frost is expected in places in the northern interior of the Eastern Cape."
