Severe thunderstorms expected in many parts of the Eastern Cape
The South African Weather Services on Wednesday morning said severe thunderstorms are expected along the eastern escarpment of the Eastern Cape.
It said the thunderstorms can be expected as the day progresses on Wednesday and in most parts of the Eastern Cape on Thursday.
Rain is also expected in Port Elizabeth and East London on Wednesday, which is some good news for the province, which is facing a severe drought.
Last week, the Department of Water and Sanitation announced that while dam levels in most parts of the country have shown a considerable increase, the exception is the Eastern Cape.
According to the water levels report published by the Department of Water and Sanitation, the Eastern Cape recorded a meager 0.1% increase, moving from 66.6% to 66.7% in the past two weeks.
