Severe thunderstorms, floods, disruptive snowfalls and damaging winds expected

The South African Weather Service on Wednesday morning said that severe thunderstorms, damaging winds, flooding, disruptive snowfalls and heavy rain are to be expected over parts of the KwaZulu Natal, Eastern and Southern Cape as the day progresses. 

"Severe thunderstorms expected over the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape, east of the Queenstown, Hogsback and Komga area," the weather office said.

"Damaging winds - SW'ly winds of 65 km/h is expected along the coast north of Coffee Bay."

It said that flooding is also expected in low lying areas along the south coast and adjacent interior in the morning.

Meanwhile, heavy rain expected along the coast and adjacent interior between Port Alfred and Port Edward.

"Disruptive snowfalls are expected over the Sneeuberg and Winterberg mountains, spreading toward the southern Drakensberg by afternoon," the weather office also said.
