Six fishermen still missing, body found on Thursday confirmed to be one of the missing

Efforts to locate the six remaining fishermen are underway after a body that was found on Thursday morning at Kini Bay was confirmed to be that of one of the missing men.

Eight fishermen could not be accounted for when their fishing trawler, the Maredon, capsized in rough seas and ran aground in St Francis Bay early on Sunday morning.

On Sunday, seven sailors were rescued and one body was recovered.

Efforts to locate the missing only got a breakthrough on Wednesday morning, when the body of one of the missing fishermen, Mbongeni Gift Zulu, of Jeffreys Bay, was recovered from the sea near Horizon Beach by the crew of a passing vessel, the Gambit, which brought the body into the port of St Francis Bay for identification.

On Thursday morning, it was confirmed that the body found at Kini Bay, near Sardinia Bay, was that of Sihle Dlamini, also of Jeffreys Bay.
