St George’s Park calls on home crowd for SA-England Test Match

Port Elizabeth - St George’s Park Cricket Ground says it is pleased to be hosting the South African and English national teams for the third Test of the four-match series set to be played in Port Elizabeth from 16 to 20 January.

The two previous clashes have seen the Proteas win the first match with England taking the second match in Cape Town – with the help of the crowd and famed Barmy Army no doubt.

This time around, the men will be playing in Nelson Mandela Bay’s backyard, and the appeal has been made for locals to #BeThere.
St George’s Park Cricket Stadium hosted its first Test match in March 1889 when England defeated South Africa by 8 wickets.

Next week’s clash will be the 10th Test Match against England hosted at St George’s Park.

The English team arrived in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

Practice commenced on Sunday.

EP Cricket chief executive officer, Dr Mark Williams said: “We are delighted to be hosting this 3rd match of the SA vs England Test Series and St George’s will be hoping to put on a great show both on and off the field.

“We are calling on all Nelson Mandela Bay residents to support the Proteas and fill the stadium. We must show our team that we are behind them all the way and motivate them in their efforts to secure a win.”

Tickets are on sale at St George’s Park Stadium’s ticket office and www.ticketpros.co.za.
