Standard Bank IRONMAN African Championship ranked first in four categories, including Best Bike course in EMEA

IRONMAN, a Wanda Sports Holdings company, today announced the results of its 2017 Athlete’s Choice Awards releasing the Top 10 scoring events in a variety of categories based solely off athlete surveys from all of the 2017 IRONMAN® and IRONMAN® 70.3® races globally.

Out of the 40 IRONMAN and over 100 IRONMAN 70.3 events, we are proud to announce that the Standard Bank IRONMAN African Championships in Nelson Mandela Bay ranked in the Top 10 in multiple categories, including best swim, bike and run course marking a major accomplishment for the event and the host community.

The Standard Bank IRONMAN African Championship was selected third overall in Race Venue, second overall in Host City Experience and first overall in the Overall Swim, Overall Bike and Overall Run course.

  • For every IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3, event surveys were sent post event to all athletes who competed. Surveys encompassed the respective areas in the attached. Based on the cumulative results, the Top 10 global events were ranked.
  • Surveys are on a 5-point satisfaction scale.
  • We had over 55,000 total respondents for the survey.
  • The 2018 edition of the Standard Bank IRONMAN African Championship will take place on 15 April 2018 – www.ironman/southafrica.com
