King Williams Town - Following the arrest of about 15 suspects, including one believed to be the mastermind of an illegal vehicle import syndicate, the Eastern Cape Provincial Anti Corruption Task Team arrested a 32-year-old woman.

"The Lovedale College student is believed to be part of a syndicate that has been involved in fraudulent activities relating to imported cars being illegally registered as rebuilds with the Transport Department and SAPS in the Eastern Cape Province."

Brig Kinana said that the female suspect appeared in the Komga Magistrate Court on Thursday on charges relating to the Contravention of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, the Customs and Excise Act, Fraud and Forgery.

"She was granted bail and is expected to return to court together with the other co-accused on the 19 September 2019 for trial."
