Sundowns steals the show at the PSL awards

Mamelodi Sundowns stole the show at the 2015/2016 Premier Soccer League (PSL) Awards ceremony on Monday night, winning seven awards. The event was held at the Emperors Palace, in Kempton Park.

Zimbabwean International and Sundowns dynamo, Khama Billiat, was the centre of attention at the PSL awards, claiming three awards as the most honoured at the PSL this season. Billiat walked away with the night’s most coveted prize, which is the PSL Footballer of the Season award.

He also took away the 2015/2016 Absa Premiership Player’s Player of the season and the Absa Premiership Mid-fielder of the Season. In all three categories he beat his own team mates, Hlompo Kekana and Keagan Dolly.

His total prize money amounted to R450 000 (R250 000 for footballer of the season, R150 000 for Absa Premiership Players Player and R50 000 for the Absa Premiership Midfielder of the season).

Pitso Mosimane, the coach of Mamelodi Sundowns took the Absa Premiership Coach of the Season while two of the members of Sundowns, Dennis Onyanga and Thabo Nthethe were voted as Absa Premiership Goalkeeper and Defender of the Season.

Thabo Nthethe added the awards for the team by being voted the Telkom Knock-out Player of the tournament.
