Suspect arrested after breaking into German tourists' car in Dutywa

Dutywa - Dutywa police arrested a 27-year-old man on Tuesday morning for theft out of the motor vehicle of German tourists.

"It is alleged that some German tourists had parked their car and went to buy some meat at a local shop. This was on Monday, 27 May 2019 at about 07:00," said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"When they came out of the shop, they discovered that their vehicle had been broken into and some of their belongings stolen.

Capt Manatha said that the suspect was arrested early on Tuesday morning at a nearby informal settlements.

"The belongings were recovered and handed over to the lawful owners."

The suspect will appear before the Dutywa Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on a charge of theft out of motor vehicle.

Butterworth SAPS Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu, commended Dutywa police for their swift reaction in arresting the suspect and recovering their belongings.
