Suspect evades arrest during Cambridge drug bust

An East London man managed to evade arrest when Cambridge police raided his drug den and seized drugs worth thousands of Rands over the weekend.

"Off duty police officers, Sergeant Thanduxolo Ganyaza, Constable Nolufefe Njambatwa, Constable Ayabonga Tukutezi and Constable Thembisani Blekiwe, attached to the Cambridge K9 Unit, acted on information they received about drugs being sold at a shack in Cambridge location," said police spokesperson, Captain Nkosikho Mzuku.

"They summoned back up and proceeded to the said premises.

"A search of the property yielded good results and substantial amount of drugs including 1 580 Mandrax tablets and 10 mini bags of tik was seized, but the suspect managed to escape before the police arrived."

Cambridge drug bust a job well done

Mdantsane SAPS cluster commander, Major General Henry Vos commended his members for a job well done.

"We are grateful more especially to the community members who continue to share valuable information with the police and we guarantee them that police will follow up any leads received from the community," he added.
