Suspect shot and killed by accomplice during botched Nahoon Dam robbery

Police are investigating cases of murder and two counts of attempted murder after alleged armed robbers opened fire at a construction manager and his staff along the N2 highway, near Nahoon Dam, outside East London.

"It is alleged that the manager was busy paying his employees wages a long the highway when a motor vehicle pulled ove parallel and started firing shots injuring the manager and his passenger," said police spokesperson, Captain Mluleki Mbi.

"It is further alleged that during the shooting, one of the robbers was hit by a bullet from his accomplice.

"He was taken to hospital where he died on arrival.

"The manager and his passenger were also rushed to hospital and are in a stable condition."

Nahoon Dam incident a wake up call for businesses

Capt Mbi said that police are advising businesses owners to conduct salary payments and wages in securred environments.
