Suspected stock thieves nabbed in Centane

Two men are expected in court on Monday after they were busted by Centane police for stock theft.

"The suspects, aged 44 and 47 years old, were arrested at Mangweni Location, Tutura Village, Centane on Friday, at about 09:30," said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.

"They were found with 15 sheep suspected to be stolen. The sheep were in a bakkie, which has been taken as well and will form part of investigation as it was used for the commission of crime."

He said that the sheep are valued R27 000.

"The suspects will appear before the Centane Magistrate Court on Monday. We are investigating the ownership of the stock," added Captain Manatha.

"The bakkie will be circulated and we will definitely find who the owner of bakkie is."

The acting Butterworth Cluster Commander, Colonel Ncedo Ngwendze, congratulated Centane Police for their swift actions in arresting the two suspects and recovery of the stolen sheep.
