Suspects arrested with firearm and drugs in Port Elizabeth

Two suspects were arrested after PE Flying Squad members acted on information received about the suspects allegedly selling drugs in Central, Port Elizabeth.

"It is alleged that on Saturday, at about 02:30, members acted on the information and noticed two males sitting in a white VW Citi Golf in Parliament Street, Central," described police spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu.

"One person was found in possession of 12 rolls of dagga while the other was found in possession of a 9mm Lorcin firearm and ammunition."

She said that the 28-year-old suspect was detained on a charge of possession of drugs while the 25-year-old was detained on a charge of prohibited possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

"They will appear in the Port Elizabeth magistrates’ court on Monday. It is alleged that both suspects are gang members."
