Suspects on the run after brazen daylight robbery in Grahamstown

A case of business robbery is under  investigation by Joza police in Grahamstown after an incident that occurred on Monday afternoon.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender; "At approx 12:30,  on Monday, the owner of a shop, in  Ext 8, Joza, was counting money to pay for a delivery.

"When the delivery vehicle stopped, he went to open the door to his shop - that was hen he noticed four unknown African males.

"Once the door was open, the four forced their way into the shop."

She said that one suspect slapped the complainant, while another two suspects pointed firearms at him.

"They took an undisclosed amount of cash and forced him into a toilet.  

"Another suspect approached the driver of delivery vehicle and demanded  the keys to the vehicle," said Captain Govender.

"He unlocked the vehicle and removed cash that was inside the vehicle.

"They fled the scene."

Captain Govender said that the suspects are unknown, but the complainant was able to provide a description.

"Any person with information on the incident to contact their nearest police station or the crine stop number on 0860010111.

"All information is strictly confidential and the caller has a choice to remain anonymous," she said.
