Suzuki Ertiga gets nipped and tucked

One of its top sellers since being introduced two years ago, Suzuki Auto South Africa has launched a facelifted version of its seven-seat Ertiga compact MPV.

Available in its home market of India since late last year, the Ertiga mainly features a number of cosmetic tweaks as well as the ramping up of standard equipment. External changes include a redesigned front bumper, revised grille and new rear bumper.

Model-wise, the previous mid-range GL replaces the GLX as flagship with additional standard kit consisting of new wheel covers, chrome grille, colour-coded electric mirrors, Bluetooth audio system, electric windows, rear parking sensors and rake adjustable steering wheel.

Inside, interior trim has also gone up a notch with upgraded plastics and upholstery. Utility space is rated at 135-litres with all seven seats up, which increases to 482-litres with all five down.

Mechanically, the Ertiga remains unchanged with power still coming from Suzuki’s 1.4-litre K14B petrol engine that makes 70 kW and 130 N.m of torque. A five-speed manual gearbox is standard on the base GA and GL models, with a four-speed automatic also being offered on the latter only.

A three year / 100 000 km warranty and four year / 60 000 km service plan is standard across the range.
