Sway in the Bay a success

Sway In The Bay, a ballroom dancing contest organised by Dr Crystal Watson, was held on Saturday evening at Walmer Wess School. Besides the glitz and glamour, in order to raise funds for the MTR Smit Children’s Haven. 

The funds that were raised on Saturday are expected to assist with the promoting of cultural empowerment of ballroom and Latin dancing for the youth. They will also assist MTR Smit Children’s Haven in establishing a sport enhancement programme aimed at improving motoric and muscular skills.

Sway In The Bay was filled with rich entertainment as the professionals, who took part, have just won in nationals.

Dance couples were made up of one local celebrity and a local dancer, whilst the MC was Carol-Ann Kelleher for the evening was. Judges consisted of Miranda Botha, Peter Mann, George Maree, Neels Van Jaarsveld and Lauren Mungur. Furthermore, Heinz In Style was the wonderful clothing sponsor of this event.

The first contest was first held in 2008 as a means of raising funds for young dancers participating in the national championship who had limited funds. The second Sway In The Bay, entitled “Rhythm” was held in 2011.
