Swift arrest of armed robbery and murder suspects commended - more arrests imminent

The swift arrest of five armed robbery and murder suspects made by the Lusikisiki Detectives, together with members of the Provincial Tracing Team, has been commended by the Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Ntshinga.

"A total of five suspects, aged between 20 and 30 years, have been arrested at about 06:00 this morning at Joe Slovo Park, Lusikisiki," said police spokesperson, Captain Khaya Tonjeni. 

"They will appear in the Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court on Friday on charges of business robbery and murder following a robbery that took place at a local shop in Bukazi Admin Area, Lusikisiki, near Port St Johns, on Thursday."

The suspects will also appear in the Flagstaff Magistrate’s Court on Monday for the murder and car-jacking, of a taxi driver that took place at yesterday Mpumaze, Flagstaff.

Police are on the heels of the sixth suspect also linked to the incidents mentioned.

More arrests are imminent.

“I am very pleased with the swift arrest of the suspects. This is one of the intended outcomes of the Back to Basics policing approach which was launched last week,” said Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga.
