Swift response sees Port Elizabeth police arresting four with stolen property

Port Elizabeth - Acting swiftly to information received from the community service centre, Mount Road Crime Prevention officers succeeded in arresting four suspects in possession of suspected stolen property.

"It is alleged that on Monday, at about 09:45, the men were seen offloading a lot of goods from a Toyota Tazz in Fettes Road in North End," said police spokesperson, Col Priscilla Naidu.

"The goods were taken into a flat."

Col Naidu said that police responded to the alert and the four men were found inside the flat.

"Computer equipment, tools, fishing tackle and household goods were found," she added.

"Upon further investigation, the police officials established that a Wendy house in the garden of a house in Elsa Street, in Framesby, was burgled during the early hours of Monday morning.

"The complainant discovered the break in at about 07:50."

All the property, including the Toyota Tazz, were confiscated. It emerged that the Toyota Tazz had been borrowed by one of the suspects from a friend.

The suspects, aged between 30-35, are expected to appear in court soon.

"Investigators are busy probing their involvement in the housebreaking in Framesby."
