Taxi driver rushed to hospital after colliding with bus on the N2

The driver of a minibus taxi was seriously injured and had to be airlifted to hospital on Wednesday morning after the taxi he was driving rammed into a bus along the N2 highway.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, the bus was travelling towards Dutywa while the taxi was heading to Butterworth.

“The taxi - a Toyota Quantum, and the bus – belonging to City to City, collided along N2 near the Walter Sisulu University campus in Butterworth,” he added.

“The male passenger was rushed to Butterworth hospital. No injuries were record from the bus.

“The cause of the accident is not known but under investigation.”

He said that the accident occurred around 09:10 in the morning.

 “Msobomvu police have opened a case of reckless and negligent driving,” Captain Manatha said.
