Team of seasoned Detectives assembled to track down men, who killed Cala man

Eastern Cape SAPS Provincial Commissioner, Lt General Liziwe Ntshinga, on Friday condemned what police termed the callous murder of a man from Cala commited on Thursday.

"Such a brutal and violent attack on ordinary citizens cannot be allowed or tolerated in our province. A team of seasoned detectives have been assembled to investigate this callous cold-blooded murder committed at Cala," said Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga-Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner on hearing the news. 

"They will not rest until they achieve a breakthrough."

According to police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana, it is alleged that a 45-year-old man from the Sakhisizwe Municipality, left his home walking on foot to visit Cala, a neighbouring locality, at around 16:30 on Thursday afternoon.

Motive for the murder of the Cala man unknown

"Neighbours close to the scene allege to have heard gunshots. On further investigation, they found the victim lying on the ground and also witnessed three males running away," he said. 

"The victim sustained wounds in the upper body and died at the scene.

"A case of murder has been opened and currently and under investigation."
