Teambuilding, productivity, brand awareness: Corporate sport offers many benef its to a company and its staff

Sport and exercise have many benefits and more businesses are encouraging and sponsoring their staff to enter sporting events as they benefit from improved staff co-operation and efficiency.

Mike Zoetmulder at Zsports, which manages numerous events in the Eastern Cape says; “Involving staff in local events helps build team spirit amongst the workforce which leads to a happier work environment and ultimately greater productivity.”

Businesses also draw significant benefits by sponsoring these events. Their brand attracts empathy from the people enjoying the sporting event, be they participants or spectators, and they are able to focus their brand building on a very specific target market. 

“A company’s awareness and corporate image is enhanced to potential consumers taking part and/or supporting a chosen event and this leads to a favourable purchase intention on the part of the consumer,” explains Mike.

“I was asked to start the kids event and, although it was pretty awesome to see whole families wearing an ‘Edge Financial Group’ branded shirt, it was even better to know that I had helped add to all of those families memories in such a positive and proactive way,” he says.

Not all sporting events need to be outdoors or physically demanding.
