Teen among those arrested after decomposing bodies found in Mthatha

Mthatha - Eleven men, aged between 18 and 30 years as well as a 17-year-old boy, were arrested on Tuesday afternoon for the alleged fatal stabbing of two men, aged 37 and 41 years, at Kambi locality in Mthatha.

"The suspects were arrested after the deceased went missing and were last seen going out of a local tavern on the evening of the 25 October 2019 allegedly with one of the arrested suspects," described police spokesperson, Captain Dineo Koena.

"Mthatha Detectives formed a task team that managed to make a breakthrough.

"The decomposed bodies of the deceased were found buried in shallow graves at the dongas pointed out by the suspects."

She said that the motive for their killing is yet to be established and the suspects will appear before the Mthatha Magistrate's Court facing charges of double murder.

"Let's make sure we oppose bail. I commend you for your efforts and working tirelessly in bringing the perpetrators to book. Let them face the consequences," said SAPS District Commissioner, Major General David Mhlangenqaba Kanuka.
