The Misfit Colour run 2017 in Sedgefield

The Sedgefield Colour run annual event was founded in March 2011 as an event to promote healthiness and happiness by bringing the community together to participate in the ‘Happiest race on the planet”.

On the 14th of April 2017, Sedgefield’s colour run accomplished just that once again when the community and visitors ran/walked the 3.5km colour run, the route starting at The Whistle Stop train Station and winding through the neighbourhood, all the while being coated in various colours.

The Happiness and fun had by all was evident by the Blue, Yellow, Purple and Pink faces and gigantic smiles.

This year a Canon filled with the colourful food-grade corn starch catapulted into the air was the start of the race with the end of the race seeing the same catapult launch Easter eggs into the air for participants to catch.

The almost 200 participants were given a stretch and warm up by the local Zumba junior class, trained by Shawn van der Berg.

The venue was bright and colourful with the branding and music supplied by sponsors, Twizza.

Prize giving awarded prizes to the three best dressed and with all the lucky draws that were generously sponsored, nearly everyone who attended walked away a winner.

Finally to close the event, each participant was given a bag of colour and after the countdown the sky was filled with a rainbow of colours.

The event is in aid of Sedgefield Slow Town Meals who deliver 90 to 100 meals three times per week, 52 weeks per year and who are grateful for the R1055.00 handed over to them.
