These areas will also be without water on Thursday due to repairs

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality on Wednesday advised residents and businesses that the water supply to an additional number of areas in the Metro will be shut off on Thursday morning, 23 August, from about 9am to replace a large leaking valve.

On Tuesday, the Metro released another list of areas that will be without water.

According to Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Mayoral Committee Member for Infrastructure and Engineering, Councillor Masixole Zinto, the following areas will also be affected:

  • Whole of Zwide area,
  • Whole of KwaZakhele area,
  • Soweto-on-Sea,
  • Veeplaas, and
  • Dora Nginza Hospital.

"Tankers will be sent to these areas to assist affected residents and businesses with water. Residents and businesses can contact their Ward Councillors to ascertain the exact position of the water tankers," Cllr Zinto said.

He said that the municipality understands the frustration that these repair and maintenance related water cuts cause to home and businesses operations.

"It is for this reason that the municipality works hard to make sure that the repair and maintenance work is done at the shortest possible time," Zinto said.

"The municipality would like to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by this work."
