Three arrested in Lusikisiki, stolen school computers recovered

Lusikisiki - Lombasi Junior Secondary School was a sight of joy after local police recovered computers and other items and arrested three suspects following a burglary at the school.

"Immediately after a case was opened, an intervention team deployed at Khanyayo, followed intelligence driven information received from Port St Johns about a suspect alleged to be implicated in the burglary and theft of school property at Lombasi Junior Secondary School situated at Cuthwini locality, Lusikisiki," said police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana.

"A search and seizure operation was conducted resulting in the following successes:- Three male suspects aged between 25- 32 years were arrested and the following items were recovered - 10 computers, five brooms and five mops."

The three male suspects appeared at the Lusikisiki Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Eastern Cape SAPS Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga, was pleased with the recovery and the arrests.

"Anyone who breaks into a school to steal essential school property and learning aids like computers is not only committing crime but is also an enemy of the nation for disrupting education of our future generations, our children," said Lt Gen Ntshinga.
