Three killed in accidents around Butterworth over the weekend

Butterworth police are investigating a culpable homicide case after a male pedestrian was killed on Saturday, at about 16h40, along the N2 highway, near Ndabakazi Village, Butterworth.

"The man, in his early 30s, passed away at the scene," said police spokesperson, Capt Jackson Manatha.

"In a separate fatal accident, near Zizamele Township, Butterworth, two sedan cars had a head-on collision on Saturday, at about 18h50.

"The driver of another sedan car passed away at the scene and a passenger from another car also passed away."

Men killed in accidents in Butterworth

Capt Manatha said that both deceased are men in their late 20s.

"Two other men from another car, which had a deceased passenger were seriously injured and were rushed to Butterworth Hospital."

He said that in both fatal accidents, the causes of the accidents are not known but are under investigations of both Butterworth and Msobomvu Police detectives.

"The identities of the three men are still being withheld as their next of kin are yet to be informed of their deaths."
