Treasury's mid-year Budget and Performance Assessment of George Municipality

Representatives from National Treasury visited the George Municipality for its mid-year Budget and Performance Assessment.

This assessment directly impacts the municipality's adjustments budget preparation as prescribed by the Act.

According to the municipality, this year the mid-year engagements focused on the review of the most recent audit outcomes, assessment of 2017/18 financial year performance as at mid-year and Budget preparation for the 2018/19 budget compilation.

Members of National Treasury were also taken on a bus ride to George Municipality's grant funded projects. They visited the Construction of a new 12,5Ml Reservoir at the George Old Water Treatment Works, Upgrading Nelson Mandela Boulevard, Outeniqua Waste Water Treatment Works Phase 2 and 2.1, Thembalethu Area 4D TRA for Electrification, Housing Consolidation - 150 Top Structures Project (UISP).

Keith Jordaan, Chief Financial Officer of George Municipality said "The meeting held was very positive. George municipality was complemented on its good financial position and its good governance. As a Secondary City, we have continued to be rated within the top two performing cities within the Republic."
