East London - Three men, aged between 33 and 35 years, are expected in court on Thursday after they were busted by East London police after a woman was scammed of her bank cards at the Nahoon shopping complex's ATM on Tuesday morning.

"The involved suspect and their vehicles were viewed on CCTV footage," described police spokesperson, Captain Mluleki Mbi.

"Police immediately activated their intelligence units.

"Information gathered led the police to a shopping complex at NU6, Mdantsane, where the suspects were spotted."

Capt Mbi said that upon seeing the police, one suspect jumped out of the vehicle and tried to flee, he was caught in a short distance.

"Two rented vehicles were confiscated by police, suspects were also found in possession of a number of bank cards."

The suspects will appear before the East London Magistrate's court on Thursday facing charges of fraud.

Cambridge police station commander, Brigadier Pumla Mdlankomo, has commended the swift action of her members as this is seen as a breakthrough in breaking the backbone of a syndicate operating in this area.
