Police in Grahamstown on Tuesday arrested three suspects, two females and a male, after they were caught stealing alcohol worth over R3 000 in Grahamstown.

According to the police, theft has been a crime of concern in the town and with the assistance of the community and networking with local businesses, members of the Grahamstown Crime intelligence gathered information and arrested the trio.

“Police caught them on the act after they committed another theft from a local liquor store,” said police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender.

She added that investigators are currently working with other complainants who have been victims to thefts.

Furthermore, it is believed that this notorious trio operated between East London and Port Elizabeth.

The suspects face several charges of theft and will appear in the Grahamstown Magistrate's court on Friday.

“Continue to restore community confidence whilst we fight crime,” added Brigadier Kunuka.
