Tsolo teen survives rape ordeal that began over the weekend, suspect arrested

A 22-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Tsolo Magistrate's Court soon for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl at Lower Malepelepe, in Tsolo.

According to the police, the victim went missing from her home on Saturday, last weekend, and only came back home on Tuesday.

“The victim reported that she was allegedly abducted and repeatedly raped by a 22-year-old man at Lower Malepelepe,” said police spokesperson, Captain Dineo Koena.

She added that the Operation Coordinated Committee (OCC) membersthen proceeded to the locality and arrested the suspect at about 13h30 on Wednesday.

The Acting Cluster Commander, Brigadier Nomawethu Makonza, commended the members for the good work.

In an unrelated incident, Mthatha OCC members  recovered a green Polo Player vehicle that was reported to have been stolen in Tsolo on the 15 October 2017.  

According to police spokesperson, Captain Koena, the vehicle was allegedly stolen after the owner parked it in his yard.

“The members were on operational duties when they spotted the green Polo Player with registration numbers DVN652EC on the N2, near New Rest locality, in Tsolo, on Wednesday at about 12h30,” said Captain Koena.
