Two busted for spate of break-ins at farmhouses in Port Alfred area

Brigadier Morgan Govender, Port Alfred Cluster Commander, congratulated Sergeant Eric Mafu and Mr Dudley Waters for making a breakthrough and arresting two brothers, who are alleged to have been breaking into farmhouses in Port Alfred, Seafield and Bathurst.

"Sergeant Mafu was on vacation leave when he was contacted by Mr Waters, who had information on these two culprits," said police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender.
"Without hesitation, Sergeant Mafu placed himself on duty and together the team worked with their informants and managed to arrest the duo, aged 36 and 47, in the early hours of Monday morning at a dwelling in Nemato."

Captain Govender said that a few months ago, Sergeant Mafu and Mr Waters arrested suspects and recovered property that were stolen on a farm.
"Several items, which were stolen in the most recent incident, were recovered valued at approximately R12 000," she said.

"The suspects face a charge of possession of suspected stolen property. They will appear in the Port Alfred Magistrate's Court soon."
