Two swiftly arrested after Booysens Park house robbery

Quick response by Port Elizabeth police and their immediate follow up to information led to the arrest of two suspects, aged 19 and 22 years old, within hours of a house robbery being committed.

"It is alleged that on Wednesday morning, at approximately 01:25, in Lombaard Street, 7de Laan, Booysens Park, Port Elizabeth, the complainant was lying on his couch when he heard a knock on the door," described police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg.

"When he woke up, he noticed three suspects in his house. They were armed with knives and they took the complainant to his room with the rest of the family and demanded money.

"The suspects later fled with cell phones, tekkies, a playstation and a DVD player.

"No one was injured during the robbery and the suspects fled on foot."

House robbery suspects arrested

She said that the Bethelsdorp Task team immediately followed up on information.

"At approximately 09:25 on Wednesday, they arrested two suspects, aged 19 and 22, on charges of house robbery and for possession of suspected stolen property," Capt Van Rensburg.

"Both suspects will appear in the Port Elizabeth New Law Courts during the week.

"Quick response by police and immediate following up on information always achieves positive results."

Mount Road SAPS Cluster Commander, Maj General Thembisile Patekile, praised the members for their swift response and apprehending the suspects.

"During the investigation the detectives will also probe whether this suspects could be linked to other crimes in the area."
