Two women, man arrested with 15 IDs and 13 SASSA cards in Tsolo

Two women, aged between 32 and 40 years old, and a 28-year-old man, are expected to appear in the Tsolo Magistrate’s Court on Monday after they were busted by alert Tsolo police officers for fraud on Thursday.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Dineo Koena, at about 14:00, Crime Prevention members in Tsolo were patrolling around town when they saw a suspicious motor vehicle and decided to search it.

“15 Identity Documents, 13 SASSA cards, one Capitec bank card and an amount of R24 890 were found in their possession,” said Captain Koena.

She added that all the items, including the motor vehicle, were confiscated and the suspects will appear before Tsolo Magistrate’s Court on Monday facing charges of fraud.

Koena added that Brigadier Nomawethu Makonza, who is the Acting Cluster Commander of Mthatha, praised Tsolo Crime Prevention members for the sterling job.

 "The SAPS Code of Conduct binds us all in preventing any form of corruption and to bring the perpetrators to justice, this displays our commitment on that," said Brigadier Makonza.
