Uitenhage man handed lengthy jail term for raping 10-year-old boy

Members from the South African Police Service remain committed and work tirelessly to ensure that perpetrators, who commit crimes against women and children are brought to book, Uitenhage police said.

"This was evident on Tuesday,  when 28-year-old Clinton Killian was sentenced to 20-years imprisonment for rape by the Regional Court in Uitenhage."

"Killian was accused of the rape of a 10-year-old boy on 31 July 2015 in an open field in Middel Street, Uitenhage," described police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart. 

She said that he was arrested by the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Llewellyn de Vries from the Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in Uitenhage on the same day and he remained in custody for the duration of the trial. 

"He was found guilty on a charge of rape on 9 December 2016 and sentenced on Tuesday to 20-years imprisonment."   

The commander of the Uitenhage Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, Lt Col Zukiswa Sunduza welcomed the sentencing and said: “Members from her unit is committed and will remain focused and steadfast in their mission to fight crime against women and children”.
