Uitenhage police appeal for leads after two men gunned down

Police in Kwanobuhle, Uitenhage, have appealed to the public to assist them with for leads as they launched a manhunt for suspects following what they called the senseless murder of two men on Monday afternoon.

"Detectives from the South African Police Service in Kwanobuhle are also looking for any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect/s involved in the murders," said police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart.

"It is alleged that the two males were walking in Ngcwabe Street, Kwanobuhle at about 13:00 on Monday, when shots were fired, fatally injuring one of the males and wounding the second male, who passed on soon after he was taken to a local hospital. 

"At this stage the motive for the killings of the two men, aged 18 and 30, are unknown and police are appealing to the community to assist them with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect/s."

She said that the names of victims will be released after formal identification is done by their next-of-kin.

Kwanobuhle SAPS are investigating a case of murder and detectives are following up on all possible leads.

"Callers may remain anonymous and all information will be treated confidentially."
