Uitenhage police need help locating teen, who went missing after visiting tavern

Investigating officers from the Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in the Uitenhage Cluster would like to make an urgent appeal to members of the community to assist them in locating a missing 13-year-old girl.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, Sharine Jantjies (also known as “Mami”) was born on 25 June 2005.

"She was officially reported missing by her mother on Wednesday, 17 October 2018, after she failed to return home on Sunday, 14 October 2018," she described.

"It is alleged that she and another friend visited a tavern in Khayamnandi and left the premises with unknown males during the evening of Sunday, 14 October 2018."

Help reunite Sharine Jantjies with her family

Capt Swart said that Sharine Jantjies has a light complexion and she was last seen wearing an orange t-shirt, black jeans and tekkies on the day that she went missing.

"Anyone with information about her whereabouts is urged to contact the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Siphiwo Ndoni on 072 732 4847 or SAPS Crime Stop 08600 10111."
