Urban Run heads for Buffalo City

The East London CBD comes alive this Sunday morning as hundreds of participants take to the street for the inaugural Buffalo City Urban Run hosted by the Eastern Cape Parks & Tourism Agency.
This charity race, which is raising funds for CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation, is a 7.5km fun obstacle run through the city with no fewer than 10 obstacles and 3 water tables along the route.

Action packed entertainment can be expected from the BRU ‘B’ Field as proceedings get under way at 8am with Gino Fabbri on the Coca Cola Stage to judge the best dressed competition before the Caledonian Pipe Band leads a procession of participants onto the starting line.
In an exciting and unique twist to the Urban Run event, all entrants are required to raise money for the nominated charity and are divided into 4 batches based on the funds raised.

The Altruists are the highest batch having raised R500 or more and they will get to line up first on the start line. They are followed by the Beseechers (R250 – R499), the Rustlers (R150-R249) and the Dawdlers (R100 – R149).

CHOC, the nominated beneficiary for East London’s first Urban Run, have put together some awesome goody bags for each of the above batches with each being increasingly more attractive to the participants.
Along the route fun and exciting obstacles are sponsored and manned by local companies and some of these include the Caltex fuel carry, Kempston Group truck obstacle, Nutritech Slip and Slide, Metrorail’s stationary train, and the fire station wall and rope climb. Powerade will also be on hand during the route and at the finish as the official hydration partner of the Urban Run.
A festival kids play zone is also being sponsored by SPUR and manned by the local Rotary Club with a donation of just R20 required for children to play and supervised all morning.
All participants are required to collect their race packs at the BRU ‘B’ field hall between 11am and 2pm on Saturday and this will also be the last chance for later entries with no packs or entries being available on the Sunday morning.
